Homemade Cleaning Recipes

Removing toxins, harsh chemicals and unsafe substances is a top priority for many people concerned with their health and wellbeing. Choosing organic foods to go into our bodies and all-natural beauty products for our skin is important. However, have you considered the quality of products used to clean your home?

For a cost-effective and eco-friendly project, you can make your own natural cleaning recipes with ingredients you have in your home! Below are some DIY recipes that take a few minutes to mix, are inexpensive, all-natural, safe for pets/family and better for the environment than traditional products.

Wood Polish Spray:

  • 3/4 cup olive oil
  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 30 drops of preferred essential oil

Combine ingredients in a spray bottle and shake vigorously before each use. Spray directly onto wood furniture and buff with a clean, dry cloth.

All-Purpose Cleaner:

  • 1/2 cup white vinegar
  • 2 tbsp baking soda
  • 10 drops of preferred essential oil (tea tree, lemon + peppermint are disinfecting)

Mix ingredients in a 12-oz spray bottle and top off with water. Shake before each use, spray on surface and wipe clean with a cloth or paper towel.

Oven Cleaner:

  • 1/2 cup baking soda
  • 2 tbsp water
  • 1/2 cup white vinegar

Mix baking soda and water into paste. Apply paste inside oven walls and scrub it in gently. Let sit for hours, preferably overnight. Next, spray white vinegar inside oven and let the foam work. Scrub whatever grime remains and wipe clean.

Glass Cleaner:

  • 1/4 cup white vinegar
  • 1/4 cup rubbing alcohol
  • 1 tbsp cornstarch
  • 2 cups water
  • 8-10 drops of preferred essential oil

Combine all ingredients into a spray bottle and shake before each use. Spray onto glass and wipe clean with a paper towel or cloth.

Air Freshener Spray:
